The
Project… Learn About APP
THE PROBLEM
Children who are disrespectful,
dishonest, lazy, crybabies, whiners, spoiled, throw temper tantrums,
exhibit violent behavior, lie, steal, refuse to communicate, have
a poor self-image. Then, let’s not forget teenage pregnancies,
drugs, gangs, truancy, and high school dropouts.
THE
SOLUTION
Aloha Parenting Project (APP) is a grassroots non-profit
organization that educates, supports, and helps parents raise
children to become responsible, productive members of our community.
APP serves as a statewide clearinghouse for parents who are interested
in learning about and improving parenting skills and techniques.
WHY
APP?
Many of us are concerned about how our culture is losing
its focus on the importance of child rearing, and how this impacts
our society, our culture and our government. Because we have moved
away from the traditional parenting standards of our parents and
grandparents, we now have many young adults (and children) who
have never experienced failure, feel entitled without having to
perform, don’t know much about taking responsibility for
their actions, and have little or no respect for legitimate authority.
We’re
hoping parents and educators who want to learn some new tools
for doing something about this pervasive problem will take advantage
of resources that we have available. Acting as a clearinghouse,
APP will connect people with available workshops, resources and
parent support groups in our communities. Our hope is that parents,
once trained or educated in the new “old” methods
of parenting, will want to start or be part of a group of like-minded
parents in their community to support one another in their efforts
to change and be the leaders in their families.
